SOE Web Site: Services We Offer
We provide several services to the School of Education community to advertise what we offer or to help you get more work done. All of the services are related to the Internet, so if you are looking for tech support or desktop database programming, you should talk to Technology Services. Services we provide:
Custom Web Applications
We currently use Sitemaker to do custom Web programming to help you get your job done better/faster. Some examples of solutions we have created are the following:
- Undergraduate prospect tracking system
- Request for permission To enroll in independent study classes
- Elections
- RSVPs
- Graduate Information Day registration
- Commencement rsvp
- Web surveys
- Updates with RSS feeds
- SOE contact directory
- Grant award archive
Sitemaker features secure data transfer. Ability to use x500 (UM Directory) groups to control access, data tables, ability to customize layout. If you are interested in making a Web application to make your life easier, contact us.
CGI Hosting
We have the ability to host CGI programs. If you have a need and you know there is already a CGI or Perl script out there doing what you want, we can set it up for you.
Create a Site on the SOE Web site
Have a program or a project you wish to host on our site. We can develop a site for you and host it on our site. Contact us for more information.

Services you can request to use
Elections - Wish to hold an election? You can request us to set one up for you. Contact us and we can discuss it.
RSVPs - Need an RSVP for an event or conference? We can set one up for you, drop us a line and we can discuss your needs.
Registrations - Need a simple registration system for an event or conference? We can set one up for you, contact us and we can discuss it.
Events advertisements: You can advertise your event on the School of Education calendar. You can do so by submitting your event here.
For a fee, we can also help research projects out with their Web sites.
By status:
Students
Posting of Dissertation Defense Notice - We will post your dissertation defense notice on the School of Education calendar. Fill out the notice form to get this started.
Hosting of your student group site - If you are an officially recognized SOE student group, we can assist you in setting up your own Web site on the SOE Web site. GSCO, GOSHE, BET, KDP have their sites on our Web site. Contact us if you are interested.
ePortfolios - Students, you can request your own ePortfolio by going to sitemaker.umich.edu and submitting a request.
Staff
Event registrations - We can quickly get an event registration up and running for you get participant information.
RSVPs - Need to RSVP for an event. We can assist you in getting a form up quickly.
Voting - Use our system to get your department vote up and running.
Advanced directory options, such as custom directory solutions. You can use directory information to attach your own flags to it, such as secretary lists, user notes, etc.

Faculty
Please contact us to request a particular service. We mostly deal with requests from the unit, so it may be good to talk to your academic unit leaders.
You are able to update to maintain a simple web page by editing your directory page. You can easily send people to your page by directing them to http://www.soe.umich.edu/faculty/yourlastname/ (unless you share a last name).
