Proposal Types and Connections with the TEI

We invite proposals for projects of any design with the following connections to the foci and work of the TEI:

Defined Opportunities for TEI- centered Innovations and Tasks
The scale and complexity of a comprehensive redesign of our approach to teacher education requires the coordinated effort of a broad range of faculty, staff and students from across the School of Education.  There are many tasks to complete. Faculty, students, and staff are invited to become involved in the TEI by applying to work on one of these needed tasks.  In order to support more systematic and sustainable change over time, the TEI Steering Group has defined projects of various sizes that are a priority in the near future.  Those projects that we have designated as “innovations” are larger in scale, with more latitude for conceptual development and design work, while “tasks” are more narrowly prescribed. Tasks are smaller in scale and often need to be completed within a shorter timeframe.  We aim to develop necessary resources and to encourage strategic growth in our collective work through this strand of the RFP.

Extending and Sustaining Promising TEI Projects
An important priority will be to learn how to extend promising projects to the scale needed for more extensive and regular use within the program. These extensions will require attention to the conceptual, pedagogical, and logistical challenges of scaling beyond small experimental or single course innovations.  Of particular interest to the TEI are projects that involve the scaling and improvement of previous TEI projects that have demonstrated promise.  We aim to support a school-wide culture of learning from our work through this strand of the RFP.

Proposing Novel Ideas or Projects that Align with and Advance the TEI

While members of the TEI Steering Group have designated areas of particular interest for project proposals, we also encourage proposals for experiments or research that address needs of the TEI but that are not listed as “defined opportunities” in this RFP. Of particular interest are projects that demonstrate potential to support ongoing work in TEI priority areas or to bridge multiple facets of TEI work. In considering ideas for novel projects, it may help to review this website carefully, to consult the TEI’s midrange plan, or to talk with a member of the TEI Steering Group.
