Teacher Education Initiative: December 2007 All-School Meeting

On December 13, 2007 we held our first-ever all-School meeting about the Teacher Education Initiative. We had a terrific turnout from faculty and staff members and graduate students. In addition to providing an overview of the TEI and updates about important areas of our collective work, the meeting had two important headlines:

  1. This winter we are launching new structures for working on curriculum content and delivery, tentatively called Subject-Specific Teaching and Learning Teams and Cross-Cutting Working Groups. A DRAFT description of the Teaching and Learning Teams is available here (Adobe PDF) .
  2. We are also launching a Request for Proposals (RFP), a new process for soliciting and supporting involvement in the TEI. Please click here to learn more about the RFP process.

PowerPoint slides from the meeting are available here (Adobe PDF).

Meeting participants had the opportunity to take part in several small-group discussions about key areas of our work, including curriculum content, settings development, and assessment. For more information about these discussions, please contact Francesca Forzani (fforzani@umich.edu; curriculum content), Tim Boerst (tboerst@umich.edu; settings), or Pamela Moss (pamoss@umich.edu; assessment). To see the handout from the discussion of settings, click here (Adobe PDF). To see the handout from the discussion of assessment, click here (Adobe PDF).

Members of the TEI Steering Group (Deborah Ball, Tim Boerst, Francesca Forzani, Donald Freeman, and Pamela Moss) welcome comments, questions, and suggestions about any portion of work on the TEI. Please send us an email if you would like to talk about the Initiative, and consider submitting a proposal through the RFP process.
