Black Educators of Tomorrow: Overview

ABOUT US

The organization is comprised of members who are in the School of Education as well as other academic units.

As supporters of diversity we encourage the involvement of people who represent various racial backgrounds, religions, and political philosophy.

Aimed at reaching as many urban students as possible, we value the presence of individuals who are interested in addressing issues surrounding inequalities in education.

OUR GOALS

  • To provide a network for professionals of color interested in urban education.
  • To recruit a diverse group of collegians into B.E.T. through the awareness of the educational issues of the underprivileged.
  • To increase the community’s involvement in urban education with the use of service-learning projects.
  • To expose young professionals to numerous opportunities within the field of education.
  • To provide informational sessions to minority students who are considering joining the School of Education.
  • To market the University of Michigan’s School of Education as a viable option to minority youth and college students who are interested in entering the field of education.
  • To allow members to learn from current educators by inviting guest speakers to meetings—such as administrators of urban school systems.
