GRADUATE STUDENT STAFF
EDUCATIONAL STUDIES
For Fall Term: Year 2008 , Winter Term: Year 2009
Teacher Education Administrative Support
(One position possible. This is a .25 fraction position-FTE)
- Please indicate your interest by completing a Bid Form to: Gretchen Ewart (gewart@umich.edu), Administrative Assistant, Teacher Education Programs, room 1228 by mail or electronically. In addition, a general Employment Application(GSA) will need to be submitted.
- Administrative Duties may include one or more of the following:
- Recruitment Activities
- Coordinating TE Ambassadors Program and/or Preferred Admit Program
- Meeting with Prospective Students
- Program Support
- Office Hours
- Selection Criteria will include:
- Significant knowledge of the Teacher Education Program.
- Significant knowledge of the field of teaching and teacher education
- Significant K-12 teaching experience
- Completion of K-12 teacher certification program
- Knowledge of the curriculum and instructional approaches of the program.
- Prior experience teaching in the program and/or providing program support.
- Educational need (in some programs, this work is viewed as an important element of the Ph.D. educational experience).

Qualifications Include:
- Graduate student in good standing in the college, with satisfactory and timely progress toward degree completion.

Desirable Qualifications Include:
- Educational Studies Student.
- Actual hiring decisions will be dependent upon availability of funding.

Unit Coordinators, upon review of the applications and consultation with the relevant Unit faculty, will forward recommendations to the Program Chair, who will make the final selections.
- Application due date: August 15, 2008.
- Teacher Education will provide notification of hiring decisions to all candidates via e-mail by approximately August 22, 2008.
- Preferential consideration will be given to applicants for whom a position has been promised as part of their financial aid package.
- Unsuccessful applications will be retained for consideration in the event that there are last minute openings. Upon request, an unsuccessful applicant will receive, within fourteen (14) calendar days, a written explanation of the reasons for denial of employment.
