- April 28: Deadline to register for “Energy and the Social Sciences: Challenges and Opportunities,” a day-long workshop which will be held on May 6, 2008, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at the Michigan League Ballroom. Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the workshop centered on engaging the social sciences in a discussion of energy challenges and opportunities for the nation and the planet. The workshop consists of three sections: a panel on challenges and opportunities in the energy realm; UM research projects in energy involving social sciences and technology; and a vision for meeting the energy challenge. The program is free, but registration is required by April 28 at http://www.isr.umich.edu/carss/about/registration.html. - May 2: Application deadline for Rackham One-Term Dissertation Fellowships and the SoE’s Dissertation Finishing Grants for support in Fall 2008. Due by 5:00 pm. - May 5 - 9: Enriching Scholarship 2008: the UM Teaching and Technology collaborative invites faculty, staff and students to enhance their teaching and research by participating in a week of free seminars, workshops, demonstrations and other events drawing upon the expertise of faculty and instructional technology specialists from across campus. Over 100 sessions that explore the effective integration of information and technology with teaching, learning and research will take place. - May 10: Applications due for ThEMaT's Summer Workshop for Teacher Educators. The event will take place from June 10 - 13, 2008 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. - June 4: Nomination deadline for the James T. Neubacher Award. Do you know someone who makes significant contributions to improve awareness, access, acceptance and full participation in society for persons with disabilities? If so, take a moment to nominate that person. Nominations are open to faculty, staff, students or alumna/alumnus of the University. The award includes a stipend provided by the Office of the President.
