390 (ELI 390, LING 386). Community Service and Language, Education, and Culture (1-3) Prerequisite: Permission of instructor
This course offers a service learning experience for undergraduates in the multilingual, multicultural context of the migrant population. The course may vary in terms of the content and target population; e.g., the course may focus on literacy issues, critical pedagogy or cultural identity issues but within the context of linguistics, educational and cultural needs of minority populations.
2. LARSEN-FREEMAN DELIVERS KEYNOTE ADDRESS
Prof. Diane Larsen-Freeman recently delivered the keynote address at this year's Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Greece Conference held in Athens. The address was titled "Teaching in Harmony with Learning."

5. SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABILITY
The Jackson County Community Foundation has a scholarship opportunity for education students whose home residence is in Jackson County. The Martha and Oliver Hansen Memorial Scholarship is available to juniors or seniors majoring in education with the intention of teaching in the classroom, P-16. Deadline for Application is April 1. 6. KELLOGG FORUM AWARDS AVAILABLE
The Kellogg Forum on Higher Education for the Public Good is sponsoring up to five awards of $3,000 for pre-tenured faculty, early career practitioners, and advanced graduate students in any discipline in U. higher education institutions who engage in research that explores higher education's role in serving the public good. Applicants should hold a doctorate (no more than five years post degree) or be at the dissertation stage of their doctoral studies; they must also be affiliated with a higher educational institution. The award to individuals will have the following additional support: 1) Conference registration fees waived to attend one of the national conferences of a collaborating association. 2) Participation in the Kellogg Forum Higher Educational Intergenerational Scholars Symposium. 3) Inclusion of their project manuscript in a Kellogg Forum edited monograph and consideration for publication in the peer review journals of the collaborating associations. "Managing Multiple Projects for Multiple People"

This course provides methods that staff members can use to effectively deal with multiple projects generated by multiple managers.
9. YMCA SUMMER JOBS AVAILABLE
This summer, the Ann Arbor YMCA will be offering eight summer camps ranging from Teen Adventure Camps and Teen Service Learning to Youth Day Camps.
