==November 19, 2002 Meeting
*Announcements/Updates
Cheri Simpson will replace Melis Michel as one of the three GSCO (Graduate Student Community Organization) representatives until elections in the spring.
The December 17th meeting will be mostly in executive session to discuss the Promotions and Tenure Committee's recommendations for the 4th year review candidates.
Jeff Mirel noted that nominations are being solicited for the Rackham Distinguished Dissertation Awards, with a deadline of December 2 in the Dean's Office.
*Campaign Case Statement
Dean Wixson asked the Committee to examine a draft campaign case statement. Campaign consultants are conducting a feasibility study to get feedback on the draft case statement, on the Schools campaign goal, and also to help cultivate prospective donors. The Committee indicated further discussion should take place at the completion of the feasibility study, but agreed that faculty participation in both giving and the campaign process are important factors in setting the culture for a successful campaign.
*Planning for December Faculty Meeting
The Committee noted the desire to continue discussions initiated at the faculty retreat and the need to explore the financial implications for some of these newly proposed ideas. It was agreed that further school-wide discussions would be most beneficial before individual programs got too far along in their planning, so the December faculty meeting will focus on further discussion of these issues. The December 10 Executive Committee meeting will be used as further preparation for the faculty meeting.
