Biology (DA) Major Minor Requirements

Biology Majors1 must complete a minimum of 37 credits including the following courses:

•The following pre-requisite courses (these do not count toward the required credits for the major):

- Chemistry 125, 130, 210, 211, 215, and 216

- Math 115 & 116

- Physics 125, 126, 127, and 128 or Physics 140, 141, 240, and 241

•Education 422

• Biology 162, 225, and 305

• Select one of the following: Biology 310, Biology 311, or Biochemistry 415

• Select two of the following: Biology 118, Biology 207, Biology 208, Biology 222, Biology 252

• Select two of the following: Biology 226, Biology 230, Biology 255, Biology 281, Biology 282, Biology 288, Biology 390, MCDB 306

• Additional courses selected from Biology, EEB, or MCDB to meet the credit requirements

Biology Minors1 must complete a minimum of 25 credits including the following courses:

• The following pre-requisite courses (these do not count toward the required credits for the major):

- Chemistry 125, 130, 210, 211, 215, and 216

• Biology 162, 225, and 305

• Select one of the following: Biology 310, Biology 311, or Biochemistry 415

• Select two of the following: Biology 118, Biology 207, Biology 208, Biology 222, Biology 252

• Select one of the following: Biology 226, Biology 230, Biology 255, Biology 281, Biology 282, Biology 288, Biology 390, or MCDB 306

1Major/minor requirements are subject to change. Candidates who entered the teacher certification program prior to Fall 2004 may consult major/minor requirements for those admitted prior to Fall 2004 by clicking here. All candidates are expected to consult with a School of Education advisor as they both plan, and progress through, their program.
