Major: 30 credits in biology from the following list.

1. Introductory biology: Biology 162 (formerly 152 and 154 or 195).

2. Genetics and biochemistry Biology 305 and 310 or 311 or Biol Chem 415.

Select one course each from groups I & II:

I. Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology: Bio 207, 208, 222, 225, or 230

English

NOTE: A list of courses that fulfill a given requirement is available each semester in the English department office. A single course may fulfill, at most, two requirements.

Major: At least 30 credits of course work, including:

1.   English 239 and 240

2.   All of the following:

a. A course in language (English 305, 308, or 406)
b. A course in composition (SWC 300 or 325). As of Fall 2001, SWC 300 must be elected.
c. A course in pre-1600 literature
d. Two other courses in pre-1830 literature
e. A course in American literature
f. A new traditions course

3.   Electives to reach the 30-credit requirement

NOTE: At least 24 of the 30 credits must be from the 300 level or above.

Minor: At least 20 credits of course work including:

1.   English 240

2.   All of the following:

a. A course in language (English 305, 308, or 406)
b. A course in composition (SWC 300 or 325). As of Fall 2001, SWC 300 must be elected.
c. A course in pre-1600 literature

Major: A minimum of 36 credits including:

Minor: A minimum of 24 credits including:

1.   NRE 481, Foundations of Environmental Education and BIO 281, General Ecology.

2.   At least one course from group a. through d. (as listed at left).

French

Major: 30 credits in French courses numbered 240 and above including:

1.   A minimum of 18 credits numbered 300 or above or equivalent.

2.   French 333 and 335

3.   French 438 is required but will be elected as ED D456 Teaching Methods and will NOT count in the 30 credits.

4.   Only one course may be chosen from courses taught in English with out language prerequisite.

5.   A minimum of 15 credits must be taken at the University of Michigan or through a study abroad program affiliated with the U-M.

Minor: 20 credits in French courses numbered 240 and above including:

1.   French 333, 335 and course work in literature.

2.   If certification major is not a foreign language (e.g. Spanish), French 438 or Ling 350 is strongly recommended.

Major: 38 credits of course work as listed below: Introductory courses preferably with laboratory, in each of the following:

1.   Chemistry: two-course sequence such as 210/211 and 215/216

2.   Physics: two-course sequence such as 125/127 and 126/128

3.   Biology: 162 (formerly 152 and 154) and a course in physiology

4.   Earth science: one term each of astronomy; geology; and atmospheric, oceanic, and space sciences

Minor*: 24 credits of course work as listed below:

1.   Introductory courses, preferably with lab, in each of the following:

3.   Biology (a two-course sequence including plants, animals, and human biology)

Major: A minimum of 30 credits in German beyond 232 (or equivalent) to include 18 credits in senior-level courses. Program usually includes:

1.   German 325 and 326

2.   Two courses chosen from German 381, 382, 383, 384, 385, RC 321

3.   Two 400-level courses chosen from 414, 450-459, 491 and 492, 499

4.   German 425 or 426

5.   German 531 is required but will be elected as ED D431 Teaching Methods and will NOT count in the 30 credits.

Minor: A minimum of 20 credits in German beyond 232 (or equivalent) including:

Students planning to major in psychology should be aware of the limited placement opportunities in this field. This may be elected as a 2nd major only, or a minor.

1.   Psychology 111 or 112

2.   One psychology laboratory or experiential course. A maximum of 6 credits in experiential course work may be counted in the major.

3.   Electives from courses numbered 300 or higher (May also use courses previously numbered 300 or higher. These have parenthesis in the LSA bulletin).

Minor: 20 credits of course work in psychology including:

1.   Psychology 111 or 112

2.   One psychology laboratory or experiential course. A maximum of 4 credits in experiential course work may be counted in the major.

Spanish

Major: 30 credits beyond 276 including:

1. Two courses chosen from: SP 411 Advanced Syntax, SP 410 Phonetics, and SP 414/RL 414 Background of Modern Spanish

2. Nine to 12 credits at the 300 level of which three credits must be in literature, three should be in Spanish Civilization or Latin American Civilization, and the other 3 credits may be in language or linguistic courses.

3. Remaining nine to 12 credits at the 400 level, of which six credits must be in literature.

4. SP 413 will be elected as ED D455 Teaching Methods and will NOT count as part of the 30 credits.

Minor: 20 credits beyond 275 including:

1. SP 276 Reading and Comp.
