Information about Technology Support for Non-School of Education Classes and Events in the School of Education Building
The School of Education building (SEB) was originally built as the University's K-12 lab school. It consequently has many classrooms, some of which are used for non-School of Education classes and events. The School of Education (SoE) is not part of LSA but is its own separate academic unit. One of the services SoE supplies to the SoE community is audio/visual and computer equipment and support. We do not have enough equipment nor are we funded and staffed at a level to allow us to supply this service to non-SoE classes or events meeting in the building.
All classrooms have data projectors, VCRs, overhead transparency
projectors, whiteboards or chalkboards, and projection screens.
See http://www.soe.umich.edu/rooms/
for
details on room equipment.
Laptops must be registered with the SoE in order to access our
network and the internet from SEB.
To register your laptop go to http://www.soe.umich.edu/computingnetwork/wireless/ and
fill out the on-line application at least one week before you plan to use your
laptop in SEB.
Shorling Auditorium (room 1202) has a data/video projector but you must bring your own computer and a VGA cable to connect to the projector. If you are planning to show video or use sound reinforcement in Schorling contact SOE Technology Services at 764-5427 or edu.net@umich.edu .
If you are teaching an LSA course or organizing an LSA event in SEB you can arrange to borrow audio/visual equipment through LSA Media Services Equipment Loan in G160 Angell Hall, 763-5158. They do not deliver. You must pick up and return the equipment. You should call at the beginning of the term to make arrangements.
If you are teaching a non-LSA course or organizing a non-LSA event in SEB please make arrangements with your own school for delivery and support of AV equipment. The audio/visual support staff in your school may want to contact Michael Dunn at the School of Education for assistance.
For in-class emergencies (installed equipment not working properly) you may contact Technology Services, 2007 SEB, 764-5427.
