Investigating simulations of teaching practice: Assessing readiness to teach elementary mathematics

This project will investigate a form of assessment used in other practice-based professions - standardized clinical performance exams - conducted through carefully designed simulations of teaching practice to assess the use of specific knowledge and skills for teaching. The work will focus on the high leverage teaching practices of eliciting and interpreting students' mathematical thinking in the context of mathematical topics in the strand of number and operations.
