Constructing Genre-Specific Writing Tasks and Identifying K-16 Learning Progressions in Historical Writing

To develop a multi-stage research project in order to (a) create a set of historical writing tasks for different genres identified in the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) that are also authentic from a disciplinary perspective; (b) examine and compare the ways in which students in grades 3-16 respond to these tasks; and (c) identify implications for social studies/history and literacy instruction and assessment.
