Consider opting for “Preferred Admission” to the School of Education on your application to UM

- Smaller learning community as part of a larger campus – "Preferred admits" develop a peer group with other students who share your interest in a career in education through organized events. During your Freshman and Sophomore years, broaden your background in educational issues and ideas through a series of classes and events at the School of Education.
- Personalized Advising – As a Preferred Admission student, you receive one-on-one advising from School of Education academic advisors beginning your freshman year, so you can make sound course-taking decisions.
- Opportunity to work with young people – The School of Education will offer links to connect you with community and campus youth programs as you spend your freshman and sophomore years preparing to enter the School of Education
- Peace of mind – School of Education applicants typically apply during their Sophomore year to begin the program their Junior year. By choosing the “Preferred Admission” option on your admission application, you would know upfront that you are a good candidate for the teacher certification program, so you can plan accordingly.
