Master of Arts in Higher Education and Public Policy, '13

Katherine Valle, School of Education

Field of Study: MA Dual Degrees in Higher Education and Public Policy

Year in Program/Year of Graduation: graduated 2013

Where do you HAIL from?  Miami, Florida

Prior degree(s): University of Florida-Criminology

Before coming to U-M:  Before Michigan, I served in Peace Corps working to improve computer literacy throughout Dominican Republic.

Why this program?  I wanted to specialize in higher education policy and Michigan was the only university that allowed me to do a dual program.

The best part of SOE:  The best part was the relationships I built was professors.

After graduation:  I moved to Michigan to work for a committee under the U.S. Department of Education and then worked at the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP). I am now the lead staffer on various higher education issues for the Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Teach me something!  It wasn't until my last year that I became involved with intramural sports, and I loved it. I discovered broomall -- it's like ice hockey but you're running instead of skating - and this Miami girl and her team won the championship that semester.

Valle’s program of study:
