Master of Arts in Higher Education, '12

Alissa Talley-Pixley, School of Education

Field of Study:  MA in Higher Education

Year in Program/Year of Graduation:  graduated 2012

Where do you HAIL from?  Fenton, Michigan

Prior degree(s): University of Michigan-Psychology; University of Michigan-master's of Information

Before coming to U-M:  Prior to attending graduate school, I worked in the University of Michigan Library. I also have worked for a private foundation and at a non-profit law firm.

Why this program?  I chose the SOE because of the faculty and students. The program is strong, and it’s the people who make it so.

The best part of SOE: The best part of my experience as a graduate student in the SOE was the learning.  Each course pushed me and challenged my prior assumptions and knowledge. And it’s the people around me in these courses who helped me move forward in my education and life-long learning.

After graduation: I am currently the Career Development and Engaged Learning Coordinator at the University of Michigan School of Information.

Teach me something! Ann Arbor is a great place for intellectual interaction, and the SOE very much reflects this attitude and feeling!
