Doctoral Student in English and Education
Michelle Sprouse is a doctoral student in the Joint Program in English and Education. Originally from Ohio, she holds her BA in English Literature from Miami University and MAT in Secondary Education from Western New Mexico University. As a result of more than a decade as a middle and high school teacher in indigenous schools, Michelle developed research interests in culturally-relevant curriculum design and digital literacy. She sees the see the intersections between these two areas as critical for student and school success in an increasingly diverse and technology-dependent society. Her experiences as an instructor in an alternative-licensure program have also inspired interest in teacher preparation and collaborative professional development. She currently teaches in the English Department Writing Program.
