Jonathan Post

Master of Arts in Higher Education, '10

Jonathan Post, School of Education

Field of Study: MA in Higher Education

Year in Program: c/o 2010

Undergraduate: Johns Hopkins

Prior to UM: I received my undergraduate degree in international relations from Johns Hopkins University and went on to work for a consulting firm and American University (AU) before pursuing the master of arts degree at U-M. At AU, I served as an academic advisor and transitioned into coordinating the international programs for the business school. I was fortunate to travel the world to set up exchange programs and develop short-term international experiences for undergraduate and graduate students.

Why your program? The master’s program was a great experience for me. I designed my internship at the Ross School of Business and served as a research assistant in the Center for International Business Education.

The best part of SOE so far: The internship and my international background enhanced my classroom experience and provided me a unique lens through which to see the issues of student development, budgeting, and strategic planning. My interests changed during the course of the program and I am now more focused on leadership and organizational development.

After graduation: After the program, I moved back to Washington, DC, where I interned with the Association of Governing Boards of Colleges and Universities (AGB). At AGB, I researched two-year governing and coordinating boards from around the country and assisted in the development of a new online research portal for trustees and presidents to utilize. At the conclusion of the internship, I was offered a consulting contract to further develop the online resource.

Teach me something! If you have any questions about my experience during or after the program, please contact me by email at I look forward to hearing from you and Go Blue!
