Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education

Erika Mosyjowski, School of Education

Field of Study: Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education, PhD

Year in Program: First Year

Geographic Region: Hartville, OH

Undergraduate: Lake High School, Case Western Reserve University (BA), University of Michigan (CSHPE, MA '11)

Prior to UM: I completed my bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology at Case. After that, I moved to Ann Arbor to pursue my master's in higher education here at CSHPE. During that time, I was involved in research on creativity, and internships in Athletics, Nursing, and Engineering. After graduating with my master's, I stayed at U of M where I had a dual appointment within the College of Engineering working both in the Office of Student Affairs as an Academic Support Coordinator as well as a research associate on a project studying engineering PhD students who decide to return to graduate school after significant work experience.

The best part of SOE so far: I love the collegial, supportive community of SOE and the exciting research and advocacy work being done by the faculty, staff, and students of the SOE. I was thrilled to be able to return to the SOE to pursue a PhD.

After graduation: At this point, I'm considering some type of faculty or research position, though the specifics of what I would like that to look like are still not 100% set.

Teach me something! The fountain on North Campus is one of my favorite places to visit on campus, particularly in the summer. Venturing a bit off campus to kayak or float down the Huron is also a lot of fun.
