Chief Finance and Operations Officer
Cheryl McPherson is the Chief Finance and Operations Officer. With over 14 years of administrative experience in higher education, she has expertise in fiscal and human resource management, community outreach, grant writing, development, and fundraising. As a member of the administrative team, she leads the effort to implement and manage high quality financial and administrative processes to support TeachingWorks. Cheryl’s understanding of the impact of diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the philosophy of TeachingWorks and through her role she is dedicated to support our mission of the organization. She has a strong commitment to building collaborative relationships across constituencies and is dedicated to improving opportunities for students from historically marginalized communities. Cheryl comes from a family of educators and realizes the value of education and the power receipt of an education has on social change and opportunity. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Resource Management from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University. She most recently worked at the Michigan College Access Network as the Director of Finance and Operations and prior to this role served as Assistant Dean for Finance & Administration in the School of Nursing at Oakland University. Cheryl is a native of Detroit, MI.
