Rachel Goulet, School of Education

Field of Study: ELMAC

Year in Program: c/o 2014

Age: 26

Geographic Region: Washington, DC

Undergraduate: Michigan State University, East Lansing

Prior to UM: Prior to coming to the University of Michigan, I attended Michigan State University (gasp!) and received a bachelors in Psychology. After graduation, I worked at the University of Michigan in the Hospital Risk Management Department and volunteered at local elementary schools.

Why your program? I chose teaching because I love learning about learning and I love working with kids. Watching kids have a "gotcha!" moment is one of the best feelings in the world!

The best part of SOE so far: The faculty and staff are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I felt very supported throughout my entire time at UofM and knew that there was always someone I could go to for advice or help. The Brandon Center is also on the top of the list - it was the perfect place to meet with other school of ed students to work on projects or study for tests.

After graduation: I am currently looking for teaching jobs in Washington, DC!

Teach me something! Ann Arbor has so much to offer - take advantage of it! I grew up in Ann Arbor and I still feel like I haven't seen it all. Make sure to check out all the shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, museums and shows. There is ALWAYS something new to do and new people to meet!
