Why your program? I chose this program because I liked that the University of Michigan and the School of Education offered a practice-based education program. Being able to be out in the field and get right into the practice of teaching is invaluable. When you group this experience with connected course work and supportive instructors, I know I will feel prepared for my first teaching job.

The best part of SOE so far: The best part of my experience in the Elementary Teacher Education program thus far is my field placements. I have been lucky enough to be matched with mentor teachers that match my personality and teaching style best. I have also been able to observe many different teaching methods and styles, and have picked up so many great ideas for my own use!

Teach me something! One piece of advice for students interested in pursuing Elementary Teacher Education is to be open to every experience that the School of Ed provides. Take on each experience in your coursework or the classroom with positivity and excitement.
