On Thursday, April 14, NBC News Education Nation and WBAL-TV will present a special live forum, “Supporting Our Students: It Takes Everyone,” in Baltimore, Maryland. A live viewing will be held at SOE during the forum, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Prechter, emceed by Nell Duke, who serves as an expert for NBC News Parent Toolkit, which will stream the event.

Percy Bates quoted in Detroit News story on school incentive programs

A Detroit News story, “Offer at Westland school: Improve your grades, get $200” looked at a program that provides students at a Michigan high school with cash incentives to study. Percy Bates commented that the idea is worth trying. “We are always looking for unique and creative ways to motivate students and especially as it relates to ‘real life’ situations,” he said.
