A post on the Forbes website takes a look at a study conducted by Barry Fishman and Jan Plass of New York University (along with SOE PhD student Rachel Snider), “Empowering Educators: Supporting Student Progress in the Classroom with Digital Games.” Fishman said, “…Our study indicates that teachers who use games for formative assessment conduct assessment more frequently and report fewer barriers.

Liz Kolb has received a 2014 grant from the Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning for her partnership project to prepare new teachers to teach middle school students about digital citizenship. Elementary teaching interns at SOE will develop and teach 10-minute “centers” on digital citizenship for local middle school students (in grades 6 and 8) in their English classes

GradeCraft, a project led by Barry Fishman, associate professor in the U-M School of Education and School of Information, and developed by a collaborative team representing both schools, was selected as a winner in the 2014 EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative Horizon Report Video Competition.
