SOE faculty recognized in edu-scholar public influence rankings

Rick Hess, director of education policy at the American Enterprise Institute and an Education Week blogger, named five SOE faculty members to his annual “Edu-Scholar Public Influence Rankings.” Deborah Loewenberg Ball, Susan Dynarski, Nell K. Duke, David K. Cohen, and Brian Jacob were among 200 university-based scholars recognized by Hess for shaping public discussions of education.

Deborah Loewenberg Ball has been named to the Commission on the Future of Undergraduate Education, announced by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences to “examine the vast—and expanding—array of learning options available to high-school graduates, including both students newly out of high school and older adults returning to school to further their lives and careers.”

NSF awards grant to Meghan Shaughnessy, Timothy Boerst, Deborah Loewenberg Ball

Meghan Shaughnessy, Timothy Boerst, and Deborah Loewenberg Ball have been awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation for their project, “Strengthening the Quality, Design and Usability of Simulations as Assessments of Teaching Practice.” This project will explore crucial questions about the design and use of simulations of practice to assess preservice teachers’ readiness.
