U.S. Embassy in Philippines delivers SOE MOOC to 800 educators

The U.S. Embassy in the Philippines is supporting an effort to take 800 teachers and leaders through the first MOOC of the Leading Educational Innovation and Improvement series. That course is titled LeadEd501x: Leading Ambitious Teaching and Learning.

The embassy has created 17 "MOOC Camps" set up across different islands in the Philippines, including conflict-ridden areas. As part of the effort to deliver the MOOC, professor Don Peurach presented a 1-hour webinar to welcome these educators to the course and to introduce the concept of "ambitious teaching and learning." Peurach spoke with the group and then led a long dialogue and Q&A session about educational challenges in the Philippines.

Donald J. Peurach is Associate Professor
