TeachingWorks journal club to meet on September 9

Tags: deans updates

TeachingWorks will host the first meeting of its journal club for the 2016–17 academic year on Friday, September 9, 2016, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., in the TeachingWorks suite (1005). Journal club is an opportunity for faculty members, staff members, and students to stay abreast of current research in teacher education. We regularly come together as a group to review and discuss the most recent research that has been published in a cross-section of journals from the field. Different people lead the journal club each time by culling through a set of journals, pulling out important articles, and summarizing them for the group. The September group leaders will be Percy Bates and Ebony Perouse-Harvey. Meetings are efficient and focused on sharing information, and they do not require any planning or preparation (except for the group leaders). Participants are not required to read the articles to be discussed prior to the meeting.

The TeachingWorks journal club will focus on new research on teacher education and will cover the following journals:

Action in Teacher Education
American Educational Research Journal
Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis
Elementary School Journal
Journal of Education for Teaching: International Research and Pedagogy
Journal of Teacher Education
Teachers College Record
Teaching and Teacher Education
Urban Review

All members of the SOE community are welcome and I hope you will consider joining us. If you have any questions, please contact Simona Goldin.
