Stephen DesJardins and CEDER receive grant from Department of Education and State of Michigan to continue GEAR UP evaluation

An evaluation team from the Center for Education Design, Evaluation, and Research (CEDER), led by Stephen DesJardins, received a grant titled “GEAR UP CEDER Evaluation Extension” funded by the State of Michigan Department of Talent and Economic Development and the U. S. Department of Education.

The Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is designed to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. Grantees serve an entire cohort of students beginning no later than the seventh grade, follow the cohort through high school, and provide college scholarships to low-income students. Dr. DesJardins and the team from CEDER will continue working on a rigorous outcome analysis of the GEAR UP program and provide technical assistance to GEAR UP site partners.

Stephen L. DesJardins is Marvin W. Peterson Collegiate Professor of Education; Professor, Ford School of Public Policy
