Phillip Bowman awarded grant by Long Island University/NIH

Professor Phillip Bowman and the University of Michigan-based Diversity Research and Policy Program (DRPP) has been awarded a grant from Long Island University and the National Institutes of Health. The team, led by Dr. Phillip Bowman (PI) and Dr. Angela Ebreo (co-PI), looks forward to their continued partnership to provide support to Understanding Interventions (UI) with: (a) the design and development of intervention-related content for various UI online resources, (b) consultation on incorporating resources into the UI innovative website; and (c) proposal development and educational dissemination at national forums. Since October 2014, the DRPP team has highly valued working on the development, design, implementation, and evaluation of the innovative UI Index as a major component of the NIH-NIGMS-sponsored Understanding Interventions that Broaden Participation in Science Careers Project (UI for short). As a collaborative stakeholder, the DRPP team agrees that the evolving UI Index and its related online resources have increasing national educational significance. As UI-DRPP 2016-2017 priorities, we agree to work closely with the UI co-directors, the University of Colorado IT team and a small group of others to: 1) plan, design, develop, and implement a prototype NSF research on interventions resource; 2) expand the NIH-NIGMS research on interventions resource; (3) continue to design, develop, and implement a list of existing UI-related reports; (4) update the UI Index of published article abstracts twice during this period; (5) work with UI’s Evaluator to assess the UI community’s use and perceptions of the UI Index and other online resources; (6) assist with UI proposal development for additional funding to support the evolving vision of the co-directors; and (7) consult, support and collaborate on strategic dissemination of UI resources related presentations at national forums.
