Paper co-authored by Brian Jacob, Brian McCall cited in NYT story on college amenities

A working paper co-authored by Brian Jacob and Brian McCall, along with Kevin M. Stange of the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, was cited in a recent New York Times story, “Making a Splash on Campus.” The working paper, College as Country Club: Do Colleges Cater to Students’ Preferences for Consumption?, was written for the National Bureau of Economic Research, and examined whether market pressure explains colleges’ decisions to provide non-academic amenities to their students.
