An article posted on the AnnArbor.com website on April 2, 2012, caught up with Cathy Reischl, coordinator of the Mitchell-Scarlett Teaching and Learning Collaborative, Kevin Karr, principal at Mitchell Elementary (and U-M alumni—'91—who studied at the School of Education), and several Mitchell teachers and U-M teaching interns as the partnership continues its first year of activities.

This collaboration of the University of Michigan School of Education and the Ann Arbor Public Schools makes innovative use of the resources of both institutions, brought to bear on those found on the adjoining campuses of Mitchell Elementary School and Scarlett Middle school, creating a unified K-8 campus. The partnership supports continuous opportunities for student learning driven by high academic standards and innovations in curriculum, instructional practices, professional learning, and community involvement; while simultaneously offering superb learning and training opportunities for U-M teacher interns.

Cathy Hindman Reischl is Clinical Professor
