Kappan Magazine article by Debi Khasnabis, Cathy Reischl, and Kevin Karr spotlights collaboration between schools and SOE


Professors Debi Khasnabis and Cathy Reischl and elementary school principal—and SOE alumnus—Kevin Karr wrote an article in Kappan magazine about the Mitchell Scarlett Teaching and Learning Collaborative (MSTLC). Their article follows the emergence and growth of the partnership, and describes the guiding principles that have made it successful. The authors explain how this model is a departure from typical curricula, teacher preparation, professional development, and educational research. Khasnabis, Reischl, and Karr emphasize the importance of three tools critical to the partnership’s success: school improvement plans, high-leverage teaching practices, and design principles. Through mutual commitment, and ongoing trust building the MSTLC continues to change and grow each year.
