Julia Gwidz featured in MLive story about third grade students’ reading levels

Senior and teaching intern Julia Gwidz was featured in photos for an article highlighting a new literacy law in Michigan. Gwidz is shown reading and interacting with third-grade students during a literacy rotation at Holmes Elementary. In the article, titled ”Schools take steps to improve literacy, avoid retaining struggling readers,” journalist Lauren Slagter reports that Michigan third-graders who are at least one grade level behind in reading proficiency can be retained starting in the 2019-2020 school year.
