Barry Fishman’s research on online professional development in Education Week

Tags: fishman, teacher education

Education Week reported on the findings of a new study lead by Professor Barry Fishman on the comparative effectiveness of online versus in-person professional development training. The work provides compelling evidence that online teacher professional development has the same effect on student learning and teacher behavior as more traditional face-to-face models. At a time when states and school districts are increasingly interested in online professional development opportunities, this research provides crucial information for decision-makers across the country. The study will be published next month in the Journal of Teacher Education.
