Essay by Brian Jacob examines opportunities, challenges of digital learning

Brian Jacob is the author of an essay that appears in the latest Brookings Evidence Speaks series. In “The opportunities and challenges of digital learning,” Jacob makes the case that recent technological innovations create new opportunities to serve traditionally disadvantaged students, but points out that “to date, there is little evidence that digital learning can be implemented at scale in a way that improves outcomes for disadvantaged students.” Jacob outlines a number of the challenges such technologies will need to overcome if they are to succeed.
