In a story in The Michigan Daily on “The Future of Education in Detroit” panel discussion, Elizabeth Birr Moje was quoted on challenges in Detroit schools. “There is a lack of stability and a bounty of confusion, which makes the work of building leaders and teachers incredibly difficult,” she said. Noting the importance of panels in supporting educational reforms, she added, “We need to hear from people who live and work in Detroit about what they see as the education needs of their children and youth.” The panel, co-sponsored by the Education Policy Initiative of the Ford School of Public Policy and the Center for Educational Design, Evaluation and Research at the School of Education, asked four panelists to talk about issues of leading, educating, organizing, and reporting from within the Detroit education system.
