Our teacher education programs receive TEAC accreditation

Tags: deans updates, teacher certification, teacher education

The Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) has officially voted to accredit the School of Education’s teacher education programs for the coming five years. As I mentioned in my updates last month, this accreditation is the culmination of a two-year process that included the development of claims about our programs and its graduates by faculty, the drafting of a brief with evidence to support those claims, a visit in November 2010 by a TEAC team to audit the data in the brief, an audit report and a response by us, and a final meeting of the review committee in Philadelphia on March 3, 2011.

This is terrific news! I would like to extend my thanks to Donald Freeman, associate professor, Beth Grzelak, Teacher Education Program director, and Mandy Benedict-Chambers, doctoral student, for serving on the school’s TEAC team and preparing the extensive documentation that resulted in this terrific outcome.
