Deanna Birdyshaw co-authors book on disciplinary literacy

Deanna Birdyshaw is a co-author of a new book titled “Teaching Disciplinary Literacy: Using Video Records of Practice to Improve Secondary Teaching Preparation.” The book is published by Teachers College Press and will be available on June 10. Retired professor of education practice Charles W. Peters and School of Education alum Amy Bacevich are also co-authors of the book.

The book focuses on five disciplinary strategies to help teachers identify and develop high-leverage teaching practices across a range of subject areas. The authors used research and experience from a teacher preparation program using video records of practice to develop the disciplinary strategies.
