On October 19, 2011, the Detroit News published an article about crowded classrooms in Detroit Public Schools. David Cohen was interviewed for the story, commenting that research shows that the larger the class, the harder it is for students to get access to the teacher and the harder it is for the teacher to manage the class. The consequences of large classes are greater for disadvantaged students, he said.

David Cohen is John Dewey Collegiate Professor, School of Education; and professor, Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.
