Catherine Reischl keynote address on teaching English Language Learners

On Saturday, October 5, Catherine Reischl gave the keynote address for the Michigan Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (MITESOL) State Conference in East Lansing. The title of the talk was "Getting Reinvigorated: Using Curricular Changes to Renew Your Teaching Practice." The keynote focused on how teachers of English Language Learners can use the Common Core to integrate their work with other content area instruction in schools. The talk highlighted curriculum and practices that have been developed by Debi Khasnabis, Katrin Robertson, and Catherine Reischl along with Ann Arbor ESL teachers Sai Sajadi, Barb Kalisewicz (both ELMAC alums) and Candy Justyna in the summer extended year programs that are part of the Mitchell Scarlett Teaching and Learning Collaborative.
