Betsy Davis honored for contributions to research and scholarship by AERA

3/15/04 -Dr. Elizabeth (Betsy) Davis has been selected to receive the Jan Hawkins Award for Early Career Contributions to Humanistic Research and Scholarship in Learning Technologies. The award, to be presented at the upcoming AERA meeting in San Diego in April, from Division C of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) is intended to recognize scholarly accomplishment in exploring and demonstrating the use of technologies in contexts of learning and education; in developing and applying innovative research techniques to understand the impact of those technologies; and in bringing about broad improvements in educational systems with a focus on issues of diversity, equity, and learning for all. The award is named in honor of Jan Hawkins, who was a developmental psychologist with a cognitive, cultural, and social-interactionist orientation, and who was well known for her respectful, humanistic conceptions of appropriate roles for using technology in K-12 learning environments.
