Lisa Lattuca speaks at conference examining assessment of educational quality

Lisa Lattuca recently spoke at a conference convened by the ASHE’s Council on Public Policy in Higher Education. At the session titled “Higher Education Indicators: What is the Best Approach to Meeting the Information Needs of Multiple Stakeholders?,” panelists were asked to make a five-minute case for which indicators they believe to be most important, and for which audience. Lattuca spoke first and argued that the most pressing need is for measures of learning as opposed to measures of achievement. Lattuca proposed a system in which students would be evaluated on their progress in broadly applicable areas.
