Getting to the School of Education: Transportation& Parking

Transportation Options

Whether driving yourself or hiring someone, here are the different transportation options available for you.

Detroit Metropolitan Airport is located 30 miles east of Ann Arbor on I-94. It takes approximately 45 minutes to reach the School of Education from the airport.

Private taxi rides to/from the airport cost on the average $40 each way. Recommended drop-off and pick-up: Corner of Willard and East University.

If you do plan to drive yourself from the Airport, following are directions to the School of Education and parking area:

To Ann Arbor: From the airport, take I-94 westbound to State Street. Take Exit #177, State Street. Turn right (north) on State towards Ann Arbor. Travel about 2.5 miles on State to the intersection of State and Hill. Turn right on Hill Street, then travel five blocks and turn left onto Forest Avenue. The parking structure is on your left. The School of Education building is located 2 blocks west of the structure.

Visitor Parking

Visitor parking is available at the City of Ann Arbor's Forest Avenue parking structure, located at the corner of S Forest Ave and Willard. The School of Education building is located 2 blocks west of the structure. Parking rates range from $.50 for 0-1/2 hour of parking to $6.65 for 6 1/2 to 7 hours of parking.

Street parking is available but fills up quickly in the morning.
Remember: Parking is extremely limited on the Ann Arbor campus. We encourage you to take a taxi to/from the airport if possible.

School of Education Building

In 1924, University High School was constructed as a model school and practice site for student teaching, and in 1930, University Elementary School was added to this building. This structure houses the School of Education today and can be a bit intimidating to navigate around if you have not been here before.
