Why your program? I gained a sense of what it would be like to be a teacher through experiential learning. I did two years of student teaching, accruing over 160 hours of tutoring in the process. During this period, I taught in grades spanning from kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as special education classes. Through my experiences in the classroom, I ultimately realized that it is my desire to help others that was and continues to be the driving force behind my career ambition.

The best part of SOE so far: I love it here. I love the campus. I love the people. I like the diversity; U-M’s student population is bigger than my entire town. Which is probably too big for me, but I really like the fact that U-M is welcoming to everybody. It makes me feel at home, when I’m away from home.

After graduation: Though teaching is the career I know is right for me, I have another interesting ambition. One of my bucket list goals is to make the Olympic ping pong team. I know that will probably never happen!
