Undergraduate Financial Aid Information

Undergraduate Scholarship and Award Opportunities

Each year, the School of Education has a number of scholarships and awards available to eligible students. Many of the scholarships and awards are specifically designated for School of Education students. Some are available to students seeking teacher certification, regardless of home unit.

Students currently enrolled and those scheduled to begin SOE classes either Fall Term 2008 or Winter Term 2009 are invited to apply.

The scholarships and awards range from $500 to two or more semesters of full-tuition and are given for three broad purposes:

  1. To enable or encourage students of great promise to enter teaching through one of the teacher preparation programs in the School of Education. There is a special need for teachers of color, teachers of math and/or science, and teachers committed to work in high needs (especially urban) areas and the awards committee may take these needs into account when considering scholarship/award applications.
  2. To recognize and supports already enrolled students who have demonstrated exceptional growth and accomplishment in learning to teach.
  3. To honor distinctive practice as a student teacher.

Some scholarships/awards carry additional specific criteria established by the donor(s).
