Our goal is to prepare scholars and educators who have the appropriate knowledge, skills and habits of mind to provide leadership in tackling the educational issues that confront us in the 21st century.
Within the last several years, there has been an unprecedented national, state, and local examination of K-12 education and the education of teachers. While the media as well as many policy leaders call for educational reform that will improve the achievement of all children, there is less information on how this should be done. The Educational Studies Program focuses on the improvement of K-12 education. We do this through research and scholarship on educational practice, and through the preparation of knowledgeable, skillful, and thoughtful teachers and educational administrators. We offer ten Ph.D. specializations, nine academic MA programs, two Masters/Certification programs, and two undergraduate teacher certification programs.
