Nick Montgomery , FARP MA
Present Position:
I am currently working as a research analyst for the Consortium on Chicago
School Research. My primary project is studying the effects of curricular
change on high school student outcomes. My responsibilities include
performing detailed statistical analysis of quantitative data, writing
reports and scholarly articles resulting from the work, and presenting
findings. I also coordinate a leadership program for inner-city children
with HIV in the New York City area and serve as the information technology
administrator for a global health related non-profit.
Prior to coming to the SOE:
After obtaining my Bachelors degree in Computer Science from Brown
University, I worked for two years as a consultant/programmer at an
IT/Management consulting firm in the D.C. area.
What I Learned in the Program:
I learned about the effects of various structural, cultural, and political
forces on achievement, equity, and resource allocation in the education
system at the national, state, and local level. With this knowledge, the
program taught me methods and opportunities for studying and creating
change towards a more equitable, laudable, and sustainable education system.
