Guidelines for Handling Complaints from Students

School of Education

STUDENT INQUIRIES:

Students should first try to resolve a dispute by discussing it informally with the person, or persons, whose actions prompted the complaint. If the matter cannot be resolved informally, the student should put his/her concern in writing to the appropriate Program:

If the student has already tried to resolve the situation at the Program level, then he/she should put his/her concern in writing to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs:

The respective administrator above will review the concern and respond to the student directly. Appointments will only be made with the students if the administrator feels it necessary and his/her secretary will contact the student to schedule.

GENERAL NOTE REGARDING INQUIRIES FROM PARENTS – ALL STUDENTS:

School of Education faculty, staff, and administrators are NOT authorized to discuss a student’s record with his/her parent.
