Higher Education in CSHPE: Current Student Employment Information

Graduate Student Research Assistant (GSRA) positions in CSHPE are arranged directly through faculty and the program chair. However, a limited number of Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) and Graduate Student Staff Assistant (GSSA) positions exist within CSHPE to which current graduate students may apply.

Note: The procedures and forms provided here apply only to positions within the Higher Education Program, located in the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education (CSHPE). Please do not complete these forms unless you are applying for a position within the Higher Education Program.

Higher Education GSRA Procedure

Graduate Student Research Assistantships (GSRA) are associated with individual research projects in CSHPE. GSRA assignments for these opportunities are the responsibility of the faculty coordinating each project. Students interested in a GSRA position with a particular project should contact the faculty coordinator to explore potential vacancies and to inquire about the process by which GSRAs are selected.

Higher Education GSI and GSSA Application Procedure

When available, open Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) and Graduate Student Staff Assistant (GSSA) opportunities are posted onSchool of Education: Student Employment Opportunities website. To apply for a GSI or GSSA appointment in the Higher Education Program, students must complete two forms:

Employment Application: to be completed by an applicant only once in a given academic year. The document will be kept on file for the remainder of that academic year should a student wish to apply for more than one position.
CSHPE Bid Form: to be completed by an applicant for each specific job opportunity requested.
