Endowed Professorships
The School of Education is fortunate in having a stellar faculty drawn from a broad span of fields and specializations. These are the people who drive our achievements, build our programs, generate new knowledge, and prepare the educators and researchers of tomorrow. In a very real sense, they are our future.
Given the central importance of a strong faculty, recruitment and retention are ongoing challenges. One of the most powerful incentives we can offer is an endowed professorship—which provides both stability and freedom. At present, however, Michigan lags far behind its competitors in endowed chairs.
Named professorships will enable the School to reward exceptional performance among current faculty members and attract leading scholars to complement our existing expertise in teacher education and other areas. Endowed chairs are also an excellent resource for diversifying the faculty and providing new emphasis within existing programs.
Endowed professorships can be established with a gift of $2 million. The School and University can suggest a variety of giving options to help interested donors make such a substantial commitment.
